Dr. Mark Dreyer is US Navy Veteran and Triple Board-Certified and Fellowship Trained Podiatric Foot & Ankle Surgeon with credentials in Reconstructive Foot/Ankle Surgery and Wound Care. He is an experienced, highly accomplished medical professional with demonstrated achievement in providing quality, evidence-based care in dynamic clinical and surgical settings. Dr. Dreyer excels as an approachable, thoughtful team leader and consummate patient advocate. He consistently cultivates outstanding relationships with colleagues, patients, and family members to deliver outstanding patient care. While he appreciates the challenge and reward of all surgical approaches, he firmly believes in an initial stepwise conservative approach prior to any surgical intervention.

Dr. Dreyer was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and received his Bachelors’ of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University. From there, he earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University, where he graduated in the Top 5 of his class. After formal medical training, he continued his education by completing an advanced three-year surgical residency at Westside Medical Center and Plantation General Hospital, in Plantation, Florida, where he received a very comprehensive training in forefoot, rearfoot and ankle pathology, as well as, wound care and diabetic foot care.

Dr. Dreyer is one of the few fellowship-trained podiatrists in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, as well as, across the nation. He completed a mini-fellowship in Podiatric Dermatology-Dermatopathology in Atlanta, Georgia and an intense one-year post-graduate foot/ankle reconstruction and limb salvage fellowship program through the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in Naples, Florida under the direction of Dr. Kevin Lam. His fellowship training had an emphasis on Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) of the foot/ankle, adult and pediatric reconstruction, trauma, sports medicine, and wound care/limb salvage.

After training, Dr. Dreyer served as Staff Podiatrist and Naval Officer (Lieutenant-Commander) in the US Navy. He was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island where he practiced military medicine with a primary emphasis on sports medicine, ankle arthroscopy, and lateral ankle reconstruction (Brostrom repair). Additionally, he served as the sole podiatrist in the Department of Orthopedics treating military personnel, dependents and retirees at the Naval Health Clinic New England including Naval Academy Prep School, Naval War College, Officer Candidate School and Surface Warfare. Further, he was a Surgical Attending for the Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency Program at Kent Hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated with the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.

While in Rhode Island, Dr. Dreyer worked at the Vanderbilt Wound Care Center at Newport Hospital where he provided reliable treatment, educational support, and disease management to patients with venous, arterial, diabetic, and pressure ulcerations in the outpatient clinic setting utilizing quality care techniques.

He is married, has two beautiful little girls and two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, exercising, FSU football, and especially spending time with his family.

His areas of special interest include: diabetic care, minimally invasive procedures, foot/ankle reconstruction, regenerative medicine, wound care and sports medicine.

Dr. Dreyer has been active academically contributing to podiatry literature in the form of publications, manuscripts, and peer reviewed journals.
