Podiatrist Logan Shannon, DPM
Dr. Logan Shannon is Board-Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, with certifications of added qualification in podiatric surgery and amputation prevention/wound care. He is a Fellowship Trained Podiatric Foot & Ankle Surgeon with surgical privileges in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Doctor’s Hospital, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, and Intercoastal Surgery Center in Sarasota. He brings a blend of compassion and broad foot and ankle surgical expertise to Intercoastal Medical Group.
Dr. Shannon was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with honors. Medical school followed at Des Moines University in Iowa, where Dr. Shannon earned a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 2018. His postgraduate training included an advanced three-year surgical residency in podiatric medicine, wound care, trauma, & reconstructive foot and ankle Surgery at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital in Alliance, OH, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Shannon is one of the few fellowship-trained podiatrists in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, as well as across the nation. His commitment to excellence continued, completing an intense one-year post-graduate foot/ankle reconstructive, limb salvage fellowship program through the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in Roanoke, VA under the direction of Dr. Zelen. His Fellowship training had an emphasis on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic limb salvage, total ankle replacement surgery, complex revisional surgery, sports medicine, arthroscopy, external fixation, and soft tissue reconstruction including skin grafts and muscle flaps. During this time, Dr. Shannon participated in more than 600 surgical cases and numerous clinical research trials.
Dr. Shannon is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine with Certification of added qualification in amputation prevention and wound care, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine with certification of added qualification in podiatric surgery. He is also a fellow of the College of Podiatric Medicine. In addition, he earned certification of training on the Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement system (STAR ankle) during his fellowship training.
The hospitals to which Dr. Shannon is credentialed with, and takes hospital call in addition to performing surgery, include Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, and Doctors Hospital of Sarasota
Dr. Shannon’s commitment to lifelong learning is evident through attendance at workshops and conferences, including the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting. His research contributions are equally impressive, having co-authored a publication submitted to the International Wound Care Journal.
His dedication extends beyond clinical practice, volunteering as a Resident Physician at Open M Clinic, which provides care to underserved communities. His many awards, honors, and affiliations further attest to his commitment to advancing the field of podiatric medicine.
Dr. Shannon is married and has a house full of 6 exotic Bengal cats that keep him busy. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicole, traveling the world, cooking, weightlifting, fine dining, working on his T-bird and building computers.
Dr. Shannon's expertise is matched only by his compassionate approach to patient care. He stands as a beacon of podiatric excellence, dedicated to improving his patients’ lives one step at a time.
